About this data

Pump prices come from the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin, which member states report to Brussels every Wednesday: Euro-super 95, automotive gas oil and LPG, in euro, before and after duty and VAT. The series here runs weekly from 12 January 2015 to 17 June 2024 — 474 weeks. Eight member states sell no LPG as a motor fuel and report none; the country picker hides them when LPG is selected.

Crude is the Europe Brent spot price published by the US Energy Information Administration, converted from dollars a barrel to euro a litre with the Federal Reserve's dollar–euro rate so it can share the axis with the pump. A barrel is 159 litres of oil that has not yet been refined, moved or taxed, so the gap between the two lines is everything else in the price.

The whole table is baked into this page as a static file. Nothing is fetched while you use it — the chart, the sorting and the CSV are all computed in your tab, and the page works with the network switched off. To refresh the data, a maintainer re-runs scripts/build-eu-fuel-data.mjs and commits the result.
